Disturbing CCTV footage has captured the moment a Nigerian carer violently handled a frail elderly man with dementia, just days before he passed away.

The carer, 42-year-old Bilikesu Olagunju, had only been on the job for six days when she was filmed manhandling 88-year-old John Attard at his residence in Bexley, Kent, as revealed in court.

According to Mail Online, during a 45-minute visit, Olagunju stripped the great-grandfather, dragged him across the living room floor, and ignored his pleas as he repeatedly told her she was hurting him. She was also heard threatening to “flog” him and “take him to the GP for injections,” even saying she would call the police on him.

The shocking incident occurred on Christmas Eve 2022, caught on camera secretly installed by Mr. Attard’s son, Chris. The next day, Mr. Attard was found unresponsive with blood on the side of his face. He was rushed to hospital but never regained consciousness, passing away ten days later.

Olagunju has pleaded guilty to a charge of ill-treatment or willful neglect of an individual under her care. She was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 50 hours of unpaid work by Woolwich Crown Court in south-east London.

Speaking after the sentencing, Chris Attard described the punishment as a “disgrace” and an “insult” to his father’s memory.
