“Nigerians only respect people they feel have money”- Man narrates sad ordeal with a rude bank officer

A Nigerian Businessman identified as Sammy Desh has complained about how he was treated by a banker just because she thought he is poor.

Sammy Desh who felt displeased and angry with the poor treatment he got from the bank customer service representative, thought it wise to bring the incident to the public and he did it through his twitter handle though he didn’t mention the name of the bank.

He added that immediately the banker saw the amount in his domiciliary bank account, she started talking to him with respect.

Here is what he tweeted,

“Many Nigerians don’t respect you until they think you have money. Was at the bank to complain about a 15k POS dispute, & the customer rep spoke to me like i was there to beg until she also saw my Dom account.  We need to do better as a people cos everyone deserves respect.”

It’s no news how customers are being treated in banks especially after they have been scrutinized and perceived by bankers as one who isn’t wealthy enough. While many have kept quiet over the seemingly subtle issue, Mr Sammy decided to speak up.
