Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred strong reactions online after he boldly advised Nigerians to return to their traditional roots. In a recent social media post, Yul claimed that the high rate of untimely deaths in Nigeria is a result of neglecting traditional beliefs and spiritual practices.

According to him, many people have abandoned the ways of their ancestors and embraced foreign religions, which he believes has brought spiritual imbalance. “The gods are angry,” Yul warned. “You don’t burn your ancestors’ shrines and expect peace.”
This bold statement drew mixed reactions from Nigerians online. Some supported him, saying he was simply telling the truth. One user wrote,
“Yul is saying what many are afraid to admit. We can’t keep rejecting our roots.” Another added, “The white man’s religion came with chains and confusion.”

However, not everyone agreed. Many were quick to criticize Yul, pointing out that he once tried to run a Christian online ministry. One user said,
“He was a pastor last year, now he’s a chief priest? Confused man.” Others accused him of clout-chasing and using controversy to stay relevant.

Despite the backlash, Yul stood his ground, warning that those who mock him may face consequences. His spiritual shift continues to spark conversations about religion, culture, and identity in Nigeria.
