In an Apple Music interview, Cyrus shared a painful and shocking experience that came close to forcing her out of music. The 32-year-old pop star told Lowe that she suffered a ruptured ovarian cyst while performing her New Year’s Eve 2023 special with Dolly Parton.

The pop star singer continued with the show, smiling and dancing through the unbearable pain. “It was extremely excruciating,” the singer said, describing the moment she felt that something was very wrong with her body. The pain was so intense that she even found herself wondering if she would have the strength to go on in her life.

Miley stated that she was shaken and contemplating retirement after the injury, but an honest talk with Canadian producer Lorne Michaels helped her to bounce back. “He told me, ‘You have six months to feel sorry for yourself. Then we rebuild,'” she said.

With that, Miley is not only back on her feet but stronger than ever. She is currently working on a new album, Something Beautiful, scheduled for a May 30 release, and a musical film to follow in June. Indeed, Miley’s story is an example of the strength hidden behind the spotlight.
