“You Can’t Be Doing Giveaways While Still Owing the Public” — Daniel Regha Drags Davido Over N20M Promise

Social media critic Daniel Regha has once again stirred controversy online, this time calling out Afrobeats superstar Davido for allegedly abandoning a public pledge he made over two years ago. According to Regha, the singer is wrong for handing out money when he hasn’t fulfilled an old promise made to Nigerians in 2022.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Regha responded to Davido’s old tweet which read: “Nigeria is hard right now sha … let’s help 20 pple on Friday … send in business ideas or start up ideas … more details shortly #Wrblo”

Regha clapped back on May 31, 2025, writing: “Davido, you can as well fulfill this pledge, it’s long overdue. You can’t be out here doing giveaways when you’re still indebted to the public. Priorities…”

His comment comes shortly after Davido reportedly gave N5 million to a fan for hair needs, a gesture Regha believes is misplaced considering past unfulfilled promises. “How can someone dash N5m for hair but ignore N1m each to 20 people he promised help?” another user questioned online.

This isn’t the first time Regha has criticized Davido. In April 2025, he rated Davido’s 5ive album 2 out of 10, slamming its content and accusing it of promoting harmful messages.

As of now, Davido has not addressed Regha’s comments. But the post has sparked heated debates online, with some defending Davido’s generosity while others agree that celebrities should follow through on public pledges before making new ones.
