Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has offered a candid perspective on the ups and downs of married life, revealing that even in a deeply committed relationship, love can be tested.
In a sit-down with Chude Jideonwo, the screen icon—who has been married to Captain Matthew Ekeinde for nearly 30 years—admitted that there are moments when she questions her feelings for her husband, but leans on her faith to stay grounded.

“There are times when I look at him and I’m not in love. I go to God and report him,” Omotola said. “I honour him not because I’m head over heels in love at that moment, but because I honour the One who gave me the mandate to be with him.”
She further revealed that the challenges of marriage are mutual. “There are times I look at him and think, ‘Somebody please remind me why I married this man.’ And he probably feels the same way about me. Those days come.”
Emphasising the importance of being real, she urged couples to stop projecting false images of perfection. “I think the problem is people trying to be fake. Relax, it’s not that serious. Remember you’re a human being,” she said.
In another moment of honesty, the actress acknowledged that attraction to others is natural but must be kept in check. “There are times I see guys who look ‘fantabulous’ and I say, ‘Oh child!’ But you check yourself,” she added.
Omotola’s reflections shed light on the depth of commitment, showing that enduring love requires both emotional maturity and spiritual anchoring.
