FG Reportedly Detains Two Binance Executives In Abuja, Demands List Of Nigerians On Its Platform

Nuhu Ribadu, the national executive adviser has detained two executives of the Binance crypto platform and confiscated their international passports, the Financial Times reported on Friday night.

The two executives whose names were not immediately disclosed, were in Abuja on an invitation from Nigerian government, the paper said.

The meeting was said to address outstanding issue between Binance and Nigeria, whose officers have tried to publicly blame the raging exchange rates in online trading platforms. It was not clear where they were being held in Abuja as of Friday night.

The government also sought for disclosure of Nigerians on the Binance platform. However it was unclear whatever authority the government had replied on to hold foreign business men and the detention could potentially escalate the administration’s desperation amid the scramble to contain the value of the national currency.
