Following the ugly scenes that greeted the Super Eagles’ Qatar 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana’s Black Stars at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on March 29, World football body, FIFA has imposed a 150,000 Swiss Franc (about N64 million)fine on Nigeria.

It could be recalled that after holding the Black Stars to a barren draw in Kumasi in the first leg of their playoff tie, the Super Eagles needed to win the second leg at home to seal their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

However, they could only squeeze out a 1-1 draw against their fierce rivals and this led to them being disqualified.

Angered by this, fans started throwing objects into the pitch before invading and destroying everything within sight.

As a result, the disciplinary arm of FIFA on Monday released a statement where the breaches committed by Nigeria and some other countries were highlighted and the punishments also spelt out.

In a dispatch by FIFA, the body’s Disciplinary Committee decried the poor organisation of the match for lack of order and security at the match.

The first of Benzema’s three goals enraged PSG, who felt Benzema should have been called for a foul on goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the build-up.

Al-Khelaifi’s outburst was documented in the referee’s report, which also stated that PSG director of football Leonardo was alongside him.

Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo “behaved aggressively and tried to enter the referee’s dressing room,” according to the report. “When the referee asked them to leave, the president hit a piece of the assistant’s equipment, breaking it.”

The ESPN report states that a source says they had “never seen club executives behave like that.”

According to Spanish publication Marca, Al-Khelaifi’s behavior was recorded by a Real Madrid employee possibly club delegate Mejia Davila, whose office Al-Khelaifi initially, mistakenly entered first who will likely send the footage to UEFA to study for a possible punishment.

After the match, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino said: “To concede the goal that we concede, the VAR has given the goal…It’s unbelievable. “It’s impossible to accept because it was a clear foul.”

Overall we were the better team, and it’s so disappointing when the emotion of the game changed from this type of situation. It’s difficult because you have given Real Madrid the belief, and of course it was so difficult to manage this situation because the team was so affected, and it’s so unfair to talk about different things because that changed completely the way the game was.”

The billionaire Russian oligarch will have all his assets frozen, banned from coming to Britain and from doing business there.

According to UK Sun, Chelsea will be granted a special licence to continue playing but Abramovich will not profit from the club. The club is also not allowed to sell tickets – with only season ticket holders being able to attend fixtures.

In a statement on Thursday March 10, UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said: “There can be no safe havens for those who have supported Putin’s vicious assault on Ukraine.

Today’s sanctions are the latest step in the UK’s unwavering support for the Ukrainian people.

“We will be ruthless in pursuing those who enable the killing of civilians, destruction of hospitals, and illegal occupation of sovereign allies.”

Abramovich is among seven Putin cronies sanctioned today to keep twisting the thumbscrews on Russia for invading Ukraine.

News first emerged last week that Abramovich had listed the club for sale following the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, the billionaire cannot sell the five-time Premier League champions, and the UK Government would need to give special dispensation for the sale of the club – with Abramovich receiving no money for it either directly or indirectly.
