Nigerian streamer Peller has addressed the controversy surrounding a job interview he conducted, following backlash from a lady who accused him of body-shaming and making insensitive tribal comments.

The drama began after a young woman named Nkese took to social media to share her unpleasant experience during an interview for a cameraman position Peller had advertised. According to her, not only did the streamer body-shame her, but he also dismissed her ethnic identity, allegedly saying her Efik tribe doesn’t exist.

In response to the backlash, Peller released a video clarifying his stance and defending his approach to the interview. He maintained that he’s searching for a candidate who is both competent and educated.

“I am uneducated, I agree. But I can’t allow an uneducated person to be my cameraman,” he said.

Explaining further, Peller added that his expectations are tied to professionalism and effective communication, especially when traveling abroad for work.

“Imagine the boat of us now go outside country, you be my cameraman, something wey they ask me, I should be able to ask you and know,” he stated.

Addressing Nkese’s claim that some of his interview questions were unnecessary, the streamer dismissed her concerns, saying she misunderstood parts of the conversation.

“For the master’s degree something I just use am joke ni, but they bring am come. The only part wey she pick post na where I tell am say I no know where be that state or tribe wey I just dey joke with this girl,” he explained.

Peller concluded by insisting that the woman would not qualify for the role, saying, “See, you can’t even be my cameraman…”

The incident has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting the streamer’s right to vet candidates thoroughly, while others condemned the alleged remarks he made during the interview.
