Duchess of Kent, Katharine, Dies at 92 Surrounded by Family

The Duchess of Kent, Katharine, has died at the age of 92, peacefully at Kensington Palace with her family by her side.
Her passing was confirmed in a statement posted on the Royal Family’s official Instagram account. “Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family,” the statement read.
The post highlighted the Duchess’s enduring legacy, noting, “The Duchess’s life-long devotion to all the organizations with which she was associated, her passion for music, and her empathy for young people.”

Throughout her life, the Duchess was an accomplished musician and dedicated over a decade to teaching music at a primary school in Hull. In 2004, she established the charity Future Talent to support music education for children from low-income backgrounds.
In addition to her contributions to music and philanthropy, the Duchess of Kent made history in 1994 by becoming the first member of the British royal family to convert to Roman Catholicism in more than 300 years.
