White House Refutes Reports of Trump Considering Clemency for Diddy

The White House has denied viral claims suggesting that President Donald Trump is weighing the possibility of commuting the prison sentence of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently serving a 50-month sentence on prostitution-related charges.

The speculation originated from a TMZ report, which alleged that Trump was “vacillating” over whether to extend clemency to the 55-year-old rapper, shortly after commuting the sentence of former congressman George Santos.

However, the White House swiftly responded, debunking the report as false and misleading.

“There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news,” a spokesperson said, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“The president, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations,” the statement added, stressing that the rumors were entirely unfounded.

Diddy, who was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering but convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution, has already spent 13 months at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

In response, his legal team has launched an appeal, submitting a notice before the Federal District Court of New York. His lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, argued that the case was built on antiquated laws and should not stand in modern court.

“The prostitution charges are relics of outdated legal frameworks under the Mann Act,” Shapiro noted, asserting that her client’s conviction was a miscarriage of justice.

President Trump, who has previously spoken about knowing Diddy personally, had earlier shared mixed views about the case during an interview with Newsmax.

“He was essentially, sort of, half innocent. I don’t know what they do that he’s still in jail,” Trump said.

Nonetheless, the president maintained that he was “more likely a no” on granting clemency — though his history of last-minute reversals on controversial pardons keeps speculation alive.

Diddy’s trial reignited scrutiny of his past, particularly the resurfaced video footage showing his physical assault on former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, an incident that drew widespread condemnation.

During sentencing, Judge Arun Subramanian strongly criticized the rapper’s conduct, describing his actions as “savage” and noting the “irreparable harm” caused to victims.

“The court finds his actions deeply troubling and inconsistent with any form of rehabilitation,” the judge said while delivering the verdict.

While the White House has ruled out any move toward clemency, Diddy’s legal team continues to push for an appeal, signaling a prolonged legal battle ahead.

For now, the once-celebrated producer and entrepreneur remains incarcerated as debates around his case — and the possibility of presidential intervention — continue to swirl in public discourse.
