Blessing Ebigieson speaks on what Jnr Pope should have done after he was allegedly given a dirty life jacket
The Nigerian veteran actress, filmmaker and the President Association of Movie Producers, AMP, Queen Blessing Ebigieson Listen speaks on what the late Nollywood actor Jnr Pope should have done after he was allegedly given a dirty life jacket and he refused to use it.
Speaking on Arise News, the AMP President said John Paul Odonwodo better known as Junior Pope and four other actors that died in the boat mishap, were all given life jackets but refused to wear them.
In respect of late Junior Pope, the Blessing also said that the actor declined, because he felt that the jacket was dirty, adding that all he could have done was to insist that the life jacket be washed instead of refusing to adorn the jacket.
She further said that out of the 12 crew members on board, all the seven that wore the jackets survived the incident.
Ebigieson said the producer of the film, Another Side of Life, Adama Luke was was not there when the boat mishap took place having gone to collect a hard drive but that the production manager was in charge, and that the production manager said Junior Pope refused to wear the jacket. She added that the boat rider ought to have insisted that Junior Pope and others must wear the gear before proceeding on the voyage.
She said a committee has been set up to report to the association in 14 days to enable the association decide on what to do. She said the association could not suspend Adanma Luke who is currently breastfeeding her baby because AMP does not not have safety agreement with filmmakers in the 27 years of existence.
She said that the body is now working on a written code that would be binding on members to enable the association act whenever there is a recurrence.
She however said that AGN has no right to suspend Adanma Luke, who is a member of AMP, adding that she has been over the internet crying and that the association is working on making sure she does not hang herself over the incident.
