In a recent interview with media personality, Chude, comedian AY has opened up about his long-standing beef with colleague, Basketmouth.

 ‘I needed the 30k’ Comedian, Ay Makun reveals the genesis of his long-standing beef with colleague, Basketmouth (DETAILS)

AY revealed that in 2006, Basketmouth helped him with a gig , and was expected to pay him N30,000 after the stand up comedy. However, weeks went by and he didn’t receive any money from Basketmouth, and he was still poor at that time, so N30,000 meant a lot to him.

When he reached out to him, he was told the organizers of the show hadn’t paid, meanwhile when he(AY) reached out to the organizers, they told him, the money has been paid weeks before the show. This revelation caused a big dispute between himself, Basketmouth and the show organizer.

It could also be recalled that in August 2021, Basketmouth told media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, on the Black Box show, that he fell out with AY because the comedian messed with loyalty.

He said;

I’d have stayed where the competition is. I still do standup comedy but not with great energy because I’m targeting all-around entertainment now. My competition is me. There’s nothing [like a feud] between AY and I.

“He came in my space; messed with loyalty by saying something to my lawyer Magnus that I told him in private. It was nothing but it was enough to cause a rift and have me put up the walls. We made peace and he apologised. I have no single problem with AY as claimed. We don’t talk.

“We made peace and he apologised,”

However, AY Makun never came out to confirm about him reconciling with Basketmouth.

Just recently, a concerned fan decided to find out what was going on between the two.

The fan identified as @chijiokeukaigwe took to AY’s comment section and wrote; “@aycomedian do you really have issues with basket mouth?”

In response, AY said;

“I don’t have issues with him. But people having unnecessary issues with you are the price you sometimes pay for being progressive. he has been battling with his uncontrollable SUPERIORITY COMLEX for the longest. SO avoiding his incessant childishness only became necessary for my own sanity.”

Another fan asked;

“In other words the both of you don’t talk”

Ay laughed and replied;

“We only talk to those who want to talk to us. DOes this make sense?”
