Finding a celebrity without a history of drug or alcohol abuse is very difficult these days. Although those who indulged in it still have a reason they did so but it still doesn’t change the name from being ‘drug abuse’.

This articles focuses on eight popular American celebrities who have been involved in the scandal of drug/alcohol abuse. While some have come out of it, we still hope to hear the news of others coming out of it.

Tim Allen

Timothy Alan Dick popularly known as Tim Allen is an American actor and author born on June 13th, 1953 in Denver, Colorado, USA. The actor whose career started in 1975 as a comedian got married to his first wife, Laura Deibel in 1984 and got divorced in 2003. In 2006, he got married to his second wife. He has two children from his two marriages. In 1978, the actor was arrested in Michigan, Kelamazo/Battle Creek International Airport for possession of over 650grams of cocaine.

He pleaded guilty to felony charges and was in prison for two years and four months. In an interview he said drug abuse is a disease of the soul and mind.

The father of two stated that he kept his alcoholic addiction away from his first wife. However, he has stayed without it for more than 23years.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie Voight is a famous actress and film maker born on the 4th of June, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She schooled in New York University and made her debut in 1982 in a movie she acted along side her dad who was an actor. A man who claimed to be her former drug dealer said she purchased drug 2-3times a week spending $100 each time she saw him. Angelina got into depression at the age of 20 and began depending on drug ranging from coke, USD, ecstasy to heroine.

She revealed that she used to cut herself in order to relief herself from the feeling of emptiness and loss. She dedicated her life to humanitarian effort and after being named ‘Goodwill Ambassador’, she decided to stop taking drugs.

Lady Gaga

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta better known as Lady Gaga was addicted to drug and used it as a form of self medication. She used to take 15-20 marijuana cigarettes a day without tobacco, this was after she had an injury which led to her having a hip surgery, the marijuana was used to curb the pain.

According to her, she used drug to deal with fame and it made her to be creative. She admitted she has mental issues.

Tim McGraw

Samuel Timothy McGraw started drinking alcohol in the beginning of 2000. In 2009, his wife gave him an ultimatum to choose between his family and his rock star lifestyle, his daughter also commented he didn’t look well and should do something about his health during a movie show he attended with her.

These two incidences made him decide to stop his drinking habit and he began working out in order to reduce the urge.

Jada Pickett Smith

The American actress, screen writer and TV host who is married to Will Smith stated that the habit of drinking runs in her family and so, she became addicted to it. She combined wine or other alcohol with ecstasy and weed.

The actress once passed out on the set of ‘The Nutty Professor’ after taking ecstasy. The good news is that she no longer takes them.

Justin Bieber

The Canadian started taking pills and smoking marijuana at age 13, he got to the point he started taking it immediately he got up from bed. He heavily depended on marijuana and got involved in xanax, lean, MDMA and psychedelic mushrooms.

According to him, at a time his security guards always came to check up on him at night to see if he was still breathing. In 2014, he moved into his Pastor’s house and that was where he started his recovery process.

Formerly known as Kanye West is a record producer, fashion designer and entrepreneur raised in Chicago. He was addicted to alcohol, percs and opiods and also has a bipolar disease.

Chris Brown

Christopher Maurice Brown was diagnosed of bipolar disorder and post traumatic stress disorder. He has been kicked out of rehab twice. In 2017, Billboard reported he abuse drugs like cocaine, codeine, MDMA and Xanax. Severally, he has been accused of assault.
