US Government To Deny Visas To Nigerians Coming To Give Birth For Citizenship

The United States government has announced a new visa restriction targeting Nigerians and other foreign nationals who intend to travel primarily to give birth in the country so their children can acquire American citizenship.

According to the new policy, visa applications from individuals suspected of “birth tourism” will be denied.

“We will deny visa applications from Nigerians intending to travel primarily for the purpose of giving birth in the US to secure American citizenship for their children,” a statement from the US government read.

This move is part of broader efforts to tighten immigration policies and curb the practice of obtaining citizenship through childbirth without any intention of permanent residence.
