Nollywood actress and producer Mercy Johnson-Okojie has strongly condemned a Ghanaian television station for broadcasting her movie The Firstborn without her permission.

Taking to Instagram, the actress expressed disbelief and disappointment over the incident, calling out the station—Blazing TV—for airing her work without prior consent.

She wrote: “Ghana, Blazing TV. How is this even ok?
Blazing TV in Ghana is showing my movie, The Firstborn, on their TV without my consent.
How does this even make sense? How?

“I am speechless at the audacity of it all.”

Mercy Johnson’s outcry signals to the rising concerns among Nollywood creatives regarding the unauthorized use of their content by foreign platforms, particularly in Ghana.

Similarly, actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli had earlier voiced her frustration over similar copyright violations. She criticized Ghanaian television stations for airing Nigerian films without approval and didn’t mince words in her warning.

“I love my Ghanaian besties but this is shameful,” she said, adding, “I will report you to your president. It’s a disgrace.”
