Renowned Nigerian filmmaker and actor Kunle Afolayan has officially launched his personal cinema, a 115-seater facility proudly named The Kunle Afolayan Cinema.

The establishment is a nod to his long-standing influence in the Nigerian film space, where his work has helped redefine storytelling over the past two decades. Known for titles like Aníkúlápó, Citation, and The Figurine, Afolayan has built a reputation for creating movies that appeal to both Nigerian and international audiences.

Taking to social media to share the development, Afolayan offered a glimpse into the stylish interior of the theatre and acknowledged fashion entrepreneur Seyi Vodi, who also featured in the video clip.

“It shall be called—the Kunle Afolayan cinema. For the great works he has done in the movie and entertainment industry. It is a 115-seater cinema. Thank you @seyivodi,” he wrote.

The launch marks yet another significant milestone in Afolayan’s career, further solidifying his commitment to growing the Nigerian film industry not only through storytelling but also by investing in infrastructure that supports local talent and cinematic experiences.

With its modern design and intimate setup, the cinema is expected to become a cultural hub for screening quality African films while providing an immersive viewing experience for movie lovers.

Beyond just being a screening venue, the initiative reflects Afolayan’s broader vision to preserve and promote African narratives through film and create more opportunities for storytelling on the continent.
