“I didn’t divorce my wife for mocking my career” – Nigerian Singer Skales Breaks Silence on False Divorce Rumor

Popular Nigerian singer, Skales whose real name is John Njenga-Njeng has come forward to deny a trending claim that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, for mocking him online.
The rumor began when a social media user on X (@Verity_HQ) alleged that Skales admitted to ending his marriage because his wife joined people online in making fun of his music career. The user quoted the singer as saying, “I d!vorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t rêgret it – Singer, Skales revealed, saying “When my wife made the comment on my post, I got ãngry. People cannot be m0cking your husband’s music career, the music that is paying for your bills and you join.”
But Skales has now cleared the air, calling the claim false and harmful. In his response, he wrote, “This is really evil of you to make up such a story. It’s not fair. I never said that. Please stop spreading lies.”
Skales married Precious, a chef, in 2021. Their marriage drew public attention in 2022 when he dropped a song that many believed was aimed at her, accusing her of ignoring his late mother’s health crisis. Around that time, he also posted: “Make sure you don’t marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health.”
At the time of writing there is a calm on social media as the singer has spoken out insisting that the rumors about his divorce are completely untrue.
