“All They Said About Me Are Lies” — E-Hailing Driver Accused Of Staging Robberies By A Rider Breaks Silence (VIDEO)

A Lagos-based e-hailing driver accused by a female passenger of staging fake robberies during rides has come forward to deny the allegations, insisting that the viral story circulating about him is untrue.

The controversy began earlier in the week when a female rider took to social media to accuse the driver of setting her up during a late-night trip. In her post, which quickly went viral, she claimed that the car suddenly broke down in a remote part of Lagos, after which a group of touts—popularly known as agberos—appeared and demanded money from her at knifepoint.

She alleged that the driver conspired with the touts to stage the attack, describing the ordeal as a “planned robbery.”

The woman’s post gained traction across social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage and calls for the driver’s arrest and blacklisting from ride-hailing companies.

In response, the driver released an emotional video, describing the accusations as false and damaging to his reputation.

“All they said about me are lies,” he said. “I am innocent. I am not a robber. I am a genuine car driver.”

He explained that his car had indeed broken down that night, but denied having any arrangement with the touts. “My car only broke down at night, and agberos came out and asked us to give them money,” he stated. “I never planned with them or set the lady up.”

According to him, he was also harassed by the touts, but the passenger failed to mention that part in her narration. “I was also targeted by those agberos, but she made it look like I set her up,” he said.

The driver lamented that the viral accusation has caused him serious damage, including the suspension of his account by the ride-hailing platform. “I have lost my job because of this false accusation which has gone viral all over Nigeria,” he said.
