Nigerian cleric, Rev Kesiena Esiri, has stirred reactions online after questioning the chances of celebrities like Tiwa Savage entering heaven, citing their lifestyle choices as contrary to Christian values.

In a video posted on Instagram, the preacher tackled what he described as misplaced sentiments around salvation, especially in a society that he says is free and open.

“When we get to heaven, what will be your excuse?” he asked.

“In a nation as free as this, many of us are still asking questions like, ‘So God, a loving God, will send somebody like Tiwa Savage to hellfire?’ Wait first, wait first,” he continued.

He went on to criticize the lifestyle of some public figures, implying that their public image and choices could have eternal consequences.

“Somebody who thinks that her life’s assignment is to be dressing half naked, promoting immorality and lust — and you think that God is man, that will just make excuses,” Esiri said.

The statement, which directly referenced singer Tiwa Savage, has sparked mixed reactions online. While some viewers agreed with the preacher’s stance on modesty and morality, others defended the singer, accusing Esiri of being judgmental.

Tiwa Savage, a globally known Nigerian music star, is often praised for her talent and style but has also drawn criticism from conservative circles for her fashion and lyrical content. She has not responded to Esiri’s comments as of the time of filing this report.
