Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has responded fiercely to a viral video that falsely claims she is HIV positive, describing the misinformation as defamatory and damaging to her character.

In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page on Saturday, the actress called out the unidentified content creator who posted the video on various social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).

Amusa explained that the false narrative may have stemmed from a 2019 post where she publicly shared her HIV status—which was negative—as part of a health awareness campaign to encourage fans to get tested and understand the importance of knowing their status.

“The reason behind that particular post was the fact that I had my HIV status, which was negative, and I decided to post the result to inform people that it’s very important to know your HIV status,” she said.

She condemned the viral video for falsely grouping her with others as HIV positive, without any attempt to verify the facts. “This person went ahead and posted this video across all major social media platforms… Do you people really sit down and make use of your brain when trying to put out content out there?” she asked, visibly upset.

Amusa warned that the consequences of such reckless and defamatory content would not be taken lightly. “I will make a scapegoat out of you. Not because I find pleasure in doing it, but because that will teach you a lesson,” she stated.

She demanded that the content creator provide evidence of the alleged HIV-positive status—such as the name of the hospital, lab, medical personnel, or any test results—to back up the false claims.

“This is someone’s life you’re playing with,” Amusa added, highlighting the impact of such misinformation on her loved ones. “Do you realise I have family? Do you realise I’ve got friends out there?”

Reiterating her current health status, the actress assured fans that she remains HIV negative. “I do this test every quarter of the year, and thank God, I am still HIV negative,” she concluded.
