Nigerian gospel singer Gaise Baba has shared deeply personal details about his past struggle with pornography, revealing that his addiction began shortly after he made a vow to remain sexually pure until marriage.
The No Turning Back singer disclosed this in a recent interview on the WithChude podcast, where he recounted how the addiction took root at the age of 15, despite his strong commitment to purity.
Gaise, whose real name is Akinade Ibuoye, said the struggle lasted for years and taught him powerful lessons about human weakness and vulnerability.
“I and my wife married as virgins. It took a while before we found the way,” he said during the podcast. “At 15, I knew what it feels like to see b*s in full glare, cleavage, a.”
He explained how the addiction crept in just after he had taken a spiritual step to guard himself against sexual immorality.
“There is something you call covenant of purity, something you come to say ‘I am not going to have sex until I get married.’ I just scribbled something, I signed it and went to give the pastor saying, ‘this is my covenant of purity’,” Gaise narrated.
“In fact, it was shortly after that I got addicted to porn. I knew that under the right temperature and pressure, any man can fall.”
He further reflected on how his youthful idealism was challenged by real-life temptations, noting that the experience humbled him and reshaped his understanding of faith, discipline, and grace.
Despite his struggles, Gaise found his footing in gospel music. He began his music career in 2005 and rose to fame with the release of his breakout single No Turning Back featuring Lawrence Oyor.
His other notable tracks include Yield, Particularly, Elijah Level, Emergency, Lightout, and Talk Am—all of which blend Afrocentric rhythms with spiritually uplifting themes.
