Nigerian celebrity hair guru Chioma Ikokwu, popularly known as Chioma Good Hair, has addressed the issue of marriage pressure after a fan reached out to her on Snapchat.

In her response, Chioma made it clear that although she is in her 30s, she is not in a hurry to walk down the aisle. According to her, being unmarried at this stage in her life is not due to circumstance but a personal decision based on clarity and intention.

“I know you mean well, but I don’t like messages like this, Rama. Don’t put pressure on me, please. It’s too late, lol. With all the technology in the world, stop it!” she wrote.

“Plus, I’m in my 30s, I’ve got time! We are not in 1885 anymore. And I promise you that I’m not married right now. It’s not by circumstance. It’s by choice. I’m not going to settle because everyone’s walking down the aisle, and some are getting divorced six months later. Please, God’s timing is everything. I’ll do it right. Love you though because I know you mean well.”

Chioma’s reply sparked reactions from fans who praised her for promoting self-awareness and rejecting societal pressure. Many applauded her openness and echoed her sentiment that timing and personal readiness are more important than conforming to expectations.

In a follow-up post, Chioma went further to reflect on her personal growth and why rushing into marriage would not have worked for her in the past. She admitted that anyone who had married her before she turned 30 would have likely struggled, as she was still focused on discovering herself and enjoying life on her own terms.

“Tbh, anyone that would’ve married me before 30 would’ve cried because I truly wasn’t ready. I still wanted to travel the world, grow in my career and be free,” she revealed.

“Am I satisfied now – yes! Am I ready now? Yes! Am I desperate – absolutely if not! Some people have been ready since they were 16 years old—that’s all good. That wasn’t me.”

Chioma Good Hair, who has built a successful brand and reputation in the beauty and lifestyle space, has often used her platform to speak on women’s empowerment, self-worth, and independence. Her latest comments add to the ongoing conversation around marriage and societal expectations—especially for women in their 30s.

By staying true to her values, she reminds her followers that marriage should be rooted in purpose and readiness, not external pressure.
