The Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has earned widespread attention after a video showed him personally serving food to guests at a recent community gathering in Umuchima, Imo State.

The viral footage captured the former Anambra State Governor walking from table to table with a tray in hand, warmly engaging with attendees as he served them meals. Members of his team followed behind, allowing Obi to interact closely with those present.

The event, held in the quiet town of Umuchima, became the centre of online discussion after Obi’s humble gesture — described by many as the highlight of the occasion — surfaced on social media.

Many Nigerians took to various platforms to applaud what they viewed as a down-to-earth display of leadership.

“He is a true servant-leader,” one social media user commented, praising Obi’s simplicity and consistent connection with the people.

However, not everyone was impressed, with some critics questioning the motive behind the act. “Don’t deceive yourself, this is desperation. Nigeria don wise pass all these,” another user remarked.

The appearance also marked one of Obi’s first prominent public outings since aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition — a political partnership aimed at building momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
