Nollywood actress and activist, Iyabo Ojo, has publicly addressed recent threats to her life and ongoing cyberbullying accusations, clarifying her stance on the tragic death of singer Mohbad.
In a detailed statement shared on her platform, the actress revealed she was recently invited by the Nigeria Police Force, National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja, following petitions related to a live video she made after Mohbad’s death. In the video, Iyabo had called on Naira Marley and others to make themselves available for police questioning to clear their names in connection with the singer’s mysterious passing.
However, she is now making it clear that her intentions were never to accuse anyone of murder.
“I never accused anyone of being responsible for Mohbad’s death,” she emphasized. “I was simply reacting emotionally to disturbing videos that were circulating at the time. I used my platform to demand justice and accountability — not to pass judgment.”
Iyabo also shared that through her Pinkies Foundation, she had written letters to top government and police authorities, calling for an independent investigation and coroner’s inquest into the singer’s death. She personally visited the then Commissioner of Police, the late DCP Ayilara, and members of the Lagos State House of Assembly to push for a thorough probe.
Despite her efforts to seek justice, the actress revealed she has since become a target of death threats, online abuse, and intimidation. She recounted how days before her daughter’s wedding in Tanzania, a threatening letter was delivered to her office, warning that she would “go through hell” in three months. In addition, videos of people placing her name on coffins have surfaced online, sparking deep concern for her safety and that of her family.
“Certain individuals have consistently called for my death and the destruction of my livelihood,” she lamented. “This has happened without any meaningful intervention from the authorities.”
Iyabo believes her political views during the last elections may have contributed to the backlash she’s facing today. Yet, she remains unshaken in her faith and commitment to justice.
“My advocacy for social justice and political stance have undoubtedly earned me enemies. But I trust that God will ultimately give me victory,” she stated.
The actress confirmed her willingness to continue cooperating with the police, despite the trauma of a recent fire outbreak that destroyed her office.
She concluded her statement by thanking supporters, law enforcement, and concerned Nigerians who have stood by her during this turbulent period.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who has shown concern, regardless of tribe, religion, or differing opinions.”
Iyabo Ojo’s stand remains clear: she did not accuse anyone, she only demanded answers. And despite personal loss, fear, and threats, she remains a voice for justice.
