Edet EbenU.S Vice President, JD Vance, appeared on Meet the Press after news of the three strikes on nuclear sites emerged. He was asked whether or not the move constituted the US being at war with Iran, to which he said, “We’re not at war with Iran. We’re at war with Iran’s nuclear program.” He then claimed that they had “destroyed the Iranian nuclear program,” which experts say isn’t quite true.
“We do not want war with Iran. We actually want peace, but we want peace in the context of them not having a nuclear weapons program,” he continued, though Iran has maintained it doesn’t have a nuclear weapons program.
Alarmingly, Vance was then asked “exactly when” Trump made the decision for the strikes, to which the VP stuttered and said, “I don’t know that any of us knew exactly when the president made the decision, except for the president himself.” When pushed for more specifics on his decision, Vance added, “The final decision, of course, is made right before…that was last night.”
