“HAVE YOU NO SHAME?!”: Mr Macaroni Slams Nigerian Police For Graphic Video Of Horrific Assault That’s Left Nigerians In An Uproar

In a chilling display of brutality that left social media reeling, a gruesome video of a Nigerian police officer savagely attacking a taxi driver in Lagos has sparked outrage nationwide—and popular actor and social activist Mr Macaroni is not holding back.

The footage, captured by passengers inside the car, shows a uniformed policeman punching the helpless driver again and again from his side. Witnesses indicate that the scuffle grew more heated after the policeman dragged the driver out of the car onto the roadside, where beatings allegedly went on without letup.

Hastily and indignantly, Mr Macaroni, who is notorious for speaking out against injustice without flinching, condemned the Nigeria Police in a string of tweets on X (formerly Twitter).

Nobody should be treated this way!!! See this savagery!!! Will you people ever change?” he cried, tagging the official police handle, @PoliceNG.

Following this in a second tweet which expressed his complete disgust, he posted:

“Nigerian Police!!! Have some dignity!”

His condemnation has united the voices of ordinary Nigerians, who flooded social media with their own traumatic experiences with law enforcement agents. Manasseh Aboki, a commenter, recalled being offered ₦50,000 bribe by a police officer in Port Harcourt for simply riding on a motorcycle without a number plate.

They can never ever change,” another commenter wrote. “They pour their frustrations on powerless citizens instead of pointing fingers at the government.”

On the X platform, many citizens said their concerns are that the abuses have become normalized. Citizens are calling for systemic reform, stricter discipline, and body cams for accountability. Others held that rotten apples only feel threatened by cameras.

“If you are doing something right, you’ll not be terrified of being recorded,” tweeted @Benuesheperd. “We see cops online doing their job right and getting applauded for it. A bastard will always be a bastard.”

This is not the first time Mr Macaroni, a.k.a. Debo Adebayo, has taken Nigeria’s security agencies to court. An outspoken advocate for human rights and a leading voice during the #EndSARS protests, the creator of the skits is still one of those leveraging his space to bring attention to abuse, injustice, and leadership failure.

As of the time of writing this, the Nigeria Police Force is yet to make a statement regarding the viral video. But Nigerians won’t hear it—and they’re infuriated.
