Headies Organizers Report Portable To Police For Thre@tening To K!ll Other Nominees (Video)

The organizers of Popular music awards show Headies have threatened to disqualify Portable after he made a death threat to co-nominees for its 2022 edition.

It could be recalled that the singer whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola was nominated in the ‘Rookie of the year’ category in this year’s Headies Award nomination list.

He was nominated alongside Fave, Magixx, AV, and Ugoccie.

Just recently, Portable shared a video f himself explaining in Yoruba why he deserved to win over the other nominees.

In the video, the music star claimed that his single ‘Zazuu Zeh’ is far more popular than the other songs on the list.

According to him, he is better known on the street than his fellow nominees.

He went on to say, seemingly jokingly, that if he doesn’t win, he’ll kill whoever does.

Reacting to this via its official Instagram page, the Headies announced all the nominees for the forthcoming award ceremony.

The Headies in its public announcement on Friday said it might be forced to disqualify the singer if he fails to retract his statement and issue an apology on his social media pages.

The statement reads in part:

“We have notified the Nigerian police of Mr Okokiola’s actions to fellow nominees.

“Also, demand for the immediate retraction of the video as well as a written apology to nominees in both categories and to The Headies has been made.

“Should Mr. Okikiola fail to meet our demands, we will not only disqualify him from participating in The Headies but also enforce the instrumentality of the law.

“The general public are hereby implored to disregard the video and stop the dissemination of same in the public space.”
