Current Premier League leaders Liverpool have knocked out league one side Shrewsbury to reach the fifth round of the Fa Cup. Liverpool fielded a very young team without the inclusion of first team players, and the lads repaid the faith of Jurgen Klopp.
The senior boys were off due to the Premier League break so the job was left for the Under-23 manager Neil Critchley to handle. Shrewsbury had a goal disallowed when the score was still goalless after VAR had reviewed there was an offside in the build up to the goal.
The deadlock was finally broken in the second half when Shrewsbury defender Shaun Williams misplaced an header into his own net. The young lads in red were really impressive despite it being the first senior game for some of the players.
Knowing that Liverpool will field a very young team, 8000 Shrewsbury fans had travelled to Anfield expecting an upset.
The total crowd were about 53,000, with the Liverpool fans turning out despite knowing they will field a young team.
