Kim Kardashian has spoken candidly about her marriage to rapper and fashion mogul Kanye West, saying that their relationship at times became “toxic” and left her feeling unsafe.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast in an episode released on Wednesday, Kardashian — who was married to West for nearly seven years — said the relationship reached a point where there was a “lack of stability” that deeply affected her sense of security.

“There was just a lot of things that I wouldn’t deal with,” she admitted while discussing her marriage to the man who now goes by Ye.

“I didn’t like the feeling of… someone talking bad about my kids’ grandmother, aunts,” she added, referencing her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, and Kylie.

“If someone feels that way, then, you know, we shouldn’t be together,” she said firmly.

Kardashian and West tied the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony in Italy in 2014. However, their marriage ended in 2021 when Kardashian filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Reflecting on the later years of their relationship, the reality star said she often felt uneasy.

“I remember just not feeling safe, not even physically — just like maybe emotionally or even, you know, financially,” she explained.

She recalled moments when West, who has publicly discussed his diagnoses of bipolar disorder and later autism, made erratic decisions during mental health episodes.

“I didn’t know… what you’re going to get when you wake up,” she shared. “And that’s like a really unsettling feeling.”

Kardashian revealed that at one point, West gave away the couple’s five Lamborghinis during one of those episodes.

“Lack of stability was a big thing,” she said, noting how she initially tried to be supportive before realizing that things were unlikely to change.

“I think when someone has like their first like mental break, you know, you want to be super supportive and you want to like help figure that out and you want to really get into that with them and be there for them,” she explained.

“But I think that… when someone isn’t willing to make changes that I think would be super healthy and beneficial, it makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic,” she continued.

The SKIMS founder said that deciding to end the marriage was incredibly difficult, especially because of their four children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

“You really have to take your time and wait and see if there’ll be changes,” Kardashian said. “But once you get to a place where you feel like it’s not going to change or get better, then you have to make… some serious choices on what you’re going to do. And that’s like a really hard reality to face, you know?”
