Over the weekend, I experienced a moment I’ve dreamed of my entire life I met the Queen, Genevieve Nnaji @genevievennaji For the first time ever, I froze. Words failed me as I stood before someone who has been a monumental source of inspiration to me. Growing up, I would often imagine this moment meeting her, perhaps even working with her someday.

When I finally saw her, she was everything I hoped for and more: warm, gracious, and truly lovely. I nervously shared my recent milestone, Something Like Gold, and her response left me speechless. She looked at me with genuine pride and said, “I’m proud of you.” Those words felt like a hug for my soul.

2025, you’re already unforgettable. This moment is a sign that this year holds so much promise. Standing before one of the most incredible women I’ve admired for years, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and nervous excitement. I had so much to say, but my emotions got the best of me. And then, she said something I’ll never forget: “It’s Black Girl Magic.”
