Nollywood actor Stanley Ebuka Nzediegwu popularly known as Stan Nze is an Anambra indigene born on the 16th of May, 1989 in Lagos State into the family of Mr Sabastine and Mrs Chika Nzediegwu.

Stan who is an indigene of Anambra State was born in Lagos were he grew up. He is the first child of his parents, the actor has four younger siblings, two males and two females.

 

His mum is a fashion designer while his dad is a business man. Stan attended First Foundation Nursery and Primary School, Okota, Lagos. After he finished, he moved on to Good Shepherd Anglican Seminary, Enugu State.

According to him, it was there he learnt how to speak the Igbo language. Having completed his basic education, Stan got admitted into the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State where he studied Computer Science.

 

Career

 

Stan Nze’s liking for acting started right from when he was in Secondary School. After gaining admission into the university, the actor who is also a model and a producer got introduced into acting. He joined a drama and theatre group called ‘Champion Theatre’ where he was opportuned to act every Sunday.

While still in the University, Stan Nze met a director who was also a student and the director informed him of an upcoming audition, the director was also kind enough to give him every information he needed in order to succeed in the audition.

In 2006, Stan went to the National Theatre for his first audition. The model was lucky to get picked for the role but he didn’t partake in the movie because he needed to get back to his studies and that was how his first movie role bypassed him.

 

In 2009, Stan went for an Industrial training in Lagos and decided to go for another audition, luckily for him, he was picked and that was when he made his debut in a TV series called ‘Private Sector’.

 

He landed his first movie role in a film called ‘Murder in Prime Suites’ a 2013 film. After this, he started getting movie roles and along the line, became a producer. However, the model believes his role in the TV series ‘The Benjamins’ brought him into limelight. You should know he attended Stella Damasus Arts Foundation.

 

In an interview, the movie producer revealed that his role models are Mo Abudu and veteran actor, Richard Mofe Damijo and this is because of how well he has developed his brand over the years.

 

He also added that Oge Okoye and Mike Ezuronye were actors who inspired him to go into acting. Speaking about it in an interview he said,
“Then I saw a couple other people around me who were into acting. One of those persons was Oge Okoye. She actually stayed in the same compound with us back then. She was a sort of inspiration to me as well because I could see her go out every day, and saw her living that life that really got me interested. I saw how she differentiated her real life from that which she interpreted in her roles as an actress. I thought that was something I would like to pull off. Another actor who inspired me was Mike Ezuronye. I felt his acting was phenomenal and really hoped to replicate that if I ever got into the movie industry. So, those were some of the inspirations that launched me into my acting career”.

Stan Nze Awards

In 2016, he won the Most Fashionable Fast Rising Actor at the Nigerian Model Achievers Awards.

He was awarded Most Promising Actor in Nigeria by the City People Entertainment Awards

He was recognized as the Co Best Performances of the Year by Ynaija2020 Review.

In 2021, he was awarded Best Actor in City People Movie Awards.

In 2019, during an interview the model revealed that he runs a project called ‘Kids Can Act’.

According to him, the project is targeted towards children within the age range of 8-14 and its aim is to train them and then launch them into Nollywood.

In an interview, Stan Nze disclosed that there was a time he used to ask his mum for money just to attend auditions.

 

He also stated that his aunt never believed he would become a great actor as she talked down on his acting career.

In his words,
What I had was talent to give and I believed in God and was hoping that something good would come my way. When I started, it was hard for people to believe in me. I did not know where I was heading to. I was just like every ordinary boy who could not do so much for himself, but striving hard to be heard. Then, one of my aunt’s had said, ‘this boy would not be able to act’. As God would have it, it’s been 10 years down the line”.

Stan Nze got married to his hearthrob, Blessing Jessica Obasi on the 11th of September, 2021. She is also a Nollywood actress and a producer at Desparanza Media and Entertainment. The couple dated for five years before tying the knot. His marriage brought some controversies especially because of the age difference between himself and his wife.

 

Some criticized his getting married to an older man. Addressing the rumour, he said that he does not regret getting married to his 42year old wife as she gives him peace of mind.

In an interview with BBCpidgin, Stan revealed that his wife is temperamental but very down to earth and she is his missing ribs.

The newly married actor added that he has determined not for fight with his wife for the first one year of their marriage.
