A 17-year-old boy who ran a scheme that targeted the accounts of celebrities, including former President Barack Obama and Elon Musk and two others have been arrested.
Graham Ivan Clark was arrested in his Tampa apartment, where he lived by himself, early Friday, state officials said. He faces 30 felony charges in the hack, including fraud, and is being charged as an adult.
Two other people, Mason John Sheppard, 19, of the United Kingdom, and Nima Fazeli, 22, of Orlando, Fla., were accused of helping Mr. Clark during the takeover. Prosecutors said the two appeared to have aided the central figure in the attack, who went by the name Kirk. Documents released on Friday do not provide the real identity of Kirk, but they suggest that it was Mr. Clark.
Mr. Clark was skilled enough to go unnoticed inside Twitter’s network, said Andrew Warren, the Florida state attorney handling the case.
Mr. Clark convinced one of the company’s employees that he was a co-worker in the technology department who needed the employee’s credentials to access the customer service portal, a criminal affidavit from Florida said. By the time the hackers were done, they had broken into 130 accounts and raised significant new questions about Twitter’s security.
Despite the hackers’ cleverness, their plan quickly fell apart, according to court documents. They left hints about their real identities and scrambled to hide the money they’d made once the hack became public. Their mistakes allowed law enforcement to quickly track them down.
Less than a week after the incident, federal agents, search warrant in hand, went to a home in Northern California, according to the documents. There, they interviewed another youngster who admitted participating in the scheme.

Shoprite to exit Nigeria market after 15 years
South Africa’s grocery retailer ShopRite is leaving Africa’s biggest market, Nigeria, 15 years after it opened shop in the West African country.
The announcement by ShopRite came months after another South African brand, Mr Price, exited the market.
International supermarkets (excluding Nigeria) contributed 11.6% to group sales and reported 1.4% decline in sales from 2018. South African operations contributed 78% of overall sales and saw 8.7% rise for the year.
The company said it has been approached by potential investors willing to take over its Nigerian operations. It said it’s considering an outright sale of its operation or selling a majority stake in its Nigerian subsidiary.
“As such, Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited may be classified as a discontinued operation,” ShopRite said in a statement on Monday.
Lagos reopens worship centres August 7th
Announcing at a briefing on Saturday, the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said, “Places of worship in Lagos will now be opened from Friday, the 7th of August, 2020 for Muslim worshippers, and on Sunday, the 9th of August for our Christian worshippers.
“We will only allow 50 per cent of their maximum capacities, either at the church or at the mosque. Churches who have a Saturday worship day will also be allowed to hold worship.
“We must reiterate that places of worship have their regular once a week service at designated days. For the avoidance of doubt, there will be Friday worships for our Muslim followers and Sunday worships for our Christian followers.
We will monitor this for the next couple of weeks and see how compliance gets as we move along. They are encouraged to have multiple services on those days but they should restrict it to those designated days of worship.
“In addition, the following conditions must also be fully met by all our religious centres; regular gatherings are permitted to hold but vigils and other services should still be on hold for now.
We recommend and seriously appeal to our senior citizens – if you are aged 65 and above, you are still strongly advised not to attend these places of worship. Please stay back at home.”
We should still ensure that no face masks policy are maintained throughout the duration of the services. They should ensure that regular cleaning and disinfection of the facilities are carried out to maintain a clean and hygiene environment before, during and after the services.
“It is mandatory to provide handwashing facilities and hand sanitisers at the various worship places. Handshakes, hugs, high-fives are not permitted during gatherings and should be emphasised and displayed at the various places of worship,” he added.
DETERMINE TO LEAVE THIS WORLD AS AN EMPTY VESSEL – ODM PUBLISHER, BISHOP DR CHRIS KWAKPOVWE
The 13th day of Our Daily Manna Prayer & Fasting program was more of a thanksgiving and prophetic service. The Bishop urged viewers to thank God in advance for all the promising testimonies of God.
He however, enlightened viewers to tap into the blessings of the Lord by prophesying to the bones and winds.
In his words:
‘Many prophesy only to the bones and not the wind’.
He revealed the wind as the holy spirit that can be accessed through worship.
‘Worshipping is a food for the Lord, while praying, fasting and studying the Bible is food for men that dare to increase their spiritual lives’
On this hindsight, he charged viewers to prophesy by indulging in worship to the bones and winds like Ezekiel did, for every dry bone to rise again.
While the Bishop emphasised on prayers to break the yoke of limitation, he mentioned the names of his mentors ; Pastor kumuyi, Morris Cerrullo, Ayo Oritsejafor, and late Bishop Ben Idahosa.
He used the story of his Mentor, the late Bishop Idahosa to charge viewers to pray for a fulfilled life while on Earth.
In his words;
‘We are all born with gifts and talents. We came from our mother’s wombs full. We ought to live our lives here on earth fulfilling our assignments. We should use our talents and gifts, empty ourselves of all the potentials we were born with. At the end of our lives here on earth we should be able to say I feel fulfilled. I have accomplished my mission here on earth.
Speaking further, the bishop recollected how Bishop Idahosa told his wife Margaret, before he died, that he felt empty because he has fulfilled and accomplished the purpose of God in him.
The bishop also motivated viewers to pray against limitations of life. He also loosed 24 open doors that will take men to the realms of a fulfilled and unlimited opportunities.
Bishop Chris prophesied ‘the blessings of the indeed’ for every partaker of the fast as he also changed spiritual names of shame to fame.
