Dele Alli charged by FA over coronavirus post

Tottenham midfielder have been charged by the Football Association over social media post. Dele Alli posted a video on Snapchat where he joked about the coronavirus virus outbreak in Asia, and he appeared to have mock an Asian man.

After realising his mistake he later deleted the video on Snapchat, and posted another on Weibo – Chinese social media platform, apologising for his wrong doing and said:

“I let myself down and the club”

The Football Association went further to charge him on misconduct on an aggravated breach of FA rule E3. The FA made a statement saying:

“It is alleged that his post breaches FA Rule E3(1) as it was insulting and/or improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.
“It is further alleged that the post constitutes an aggravated breach, which is defined in FA Rule E3(2), as it included a reference, whether express or implied, to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin and/or nationality.”

Dele Alli will have to respond on the charge from now till the 5th of March.
