Manchester United have announced Harry Maguire as the new club captain following the departure of Ashley Young to Inter Milan.

 

The 26-year-old had captained the club in 12 occasions this season due To Ashley Young being on the bench.

Despite Maguire joining the red devils last August in an £80Million deal, Ole thinks his leadership qualities in the side can not be overlooked. “He’s come in and been a leader in the group. I’ve been, not surprised, but I’ve been impressed by his leadership skills, so Harry will keep on wearing the armband’’ said Ole Solksjaer while speaking to reporters.

 

The new club captain has shown his delight on Twitter saying “Dream come true to be named the @ManUtd captain. Proud moment and huge honour. Just want to wish @youngy18 all the best at @Inter_en’’.
Harry Maguire will wear the armband as United’s permanent captain for the first time against Liverpool on Sunday.

On Friday, the former United captain completed his move to Inter Milan in a six months deal worth £1.3Million. Young is the third Manchester United player signed by Antonio Conte in less than six months, following Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. The 34-year-old wing back joined from Aston Villa in June 2011 and made 261 appearances for the club.Young turned down a contract extension by Manchester United this January, due to the fact he’s seeing less game times this season.
