2022 International Masters Scholarships at National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies

The National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies will award the selected students an International Masters Scholarships to undertake their public policy studies in Japan.

Founded in 1997 as a stand-alone graduate institute, GRIPS is comprised of world-class academics and distinguished practitioners with expertise in public sector policy formulation and management. Around 20% of the faculty and 70% of students are recruited from outside Japan. The vibrant, diverse student body consists of almost 400 members hailing from 63 countries and regions – all with the ambition to advance good governance across the globe or contribute to policy related research.

They offer a diverse array of Master’s and Doctoral Programs, from which students cultivate the ability to analyze issues and suggest solutions, develop interdisciplinary knowledge and skills that span related fields, and gain practical expertise. In addition to our degree programs, they also offer executive level short term training programs across a wide range of themes.

Eligibility criteria for the International Masters Scholarships

1. Applicants must be international students at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies.

2. Applicants must meet the course-specific requirement of the programme they wish to join at GRIPS.

3. Applicants must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:

a. TOEFL iBT – 79 or higher

b. IELTS Academic – 6.0 or higher
